Etsy Wish List #6

In my humble opinion, it's the accessories--not the clothes--that make the woman. What better way to dress up your favorite outfit than to add one of these video game themed pieces?

I must admit that my experience with classic the games of the 8 and 16 bit eras is pretty limited. That doesn't mean that I can't appreciate the simplistic beauty of these wood earrings. Something small this takes an amazing attention to detail.

I don't think there's anyone alive who hasn't played at least one game of Tetris. It's terribly addictive in the most frustrating way and the game's basic strategies even can be applied to real life. Have you ever over packed a suitcase or car, so much so that there was absolutely no extra space left? You just might have Tetris to thank for that skill.

These particular earrings are also available in green "Z", yellow "O", and blue "L" block shapes, so you can pick your favorite color or game piece. Or you could just get them all if you consider yourself a super-fan and want one for every occasion. I won't judge.

You ask yourself: "Video games and cameo jewelry?" I can feel your uncertainty. It's unexpected. It's quirky. And it works. The best accessory is one that make someone do a double take and this necklace demands one. If only the picture was in black and white or maybe even a sepia tone...that would really make this necklace perfect.

So any of these pieces of jewelry catch your eye?

Wish List--I Love Video Games Necklace

I am always looking for ways to let people know about my passion for video games. You know, other then awkwardly shoving the fact into random conversations with random strangers...The main problem is that many gamer-centric products scream "I play video games and this is my favorite character/title!" with huge logos, bright colors or obnoxious pictures. And sometimes you just want to show your love without wearing a t-shirt that people could assume you borrowed from your younger brother.

That is where this necklace comes in. Simple and understated, this accessory tells people that you're a gamer without shoving your favorite franchise in their faces. Best of all, it's undeniably feminine! This piece isn't a "want", this is a "need".

Find it on Etsy.

Do you love this necklace as much as I do?

Wish List--Pac-Man Print Mini Skirt

No quarters required to play.
Pac-Man is one of the most iconic video game series ever. It's not the hottest thing now, but there was a point when anything related to that hungry yellow circle was considered a guaranteed hit. Even that rushed Atari port that was pretty much impossible to play still sold millions of copies simply because of the hype...

Whether you poured your soul and extra quarters into eating those colorful ghosts or your arcade experience is extremely limited, chances are that you've played Pac-Man--or one of its numerous spin-offs--at least once in your life (I wasted my allowance on it more times than I'd like to admit...). Its pick-up-and-play simplicity has made it an extremely universal game.

With its multi-colored ghosts and circles, this skirt is the perfect way to display your love for the addictive maze game. But the design is so understated that from far away it looks like any other pattern. The skirt is almost as universal as the game itself. A fantastic combination of video game love and everyday style.

Find this skirt on Etsy.

Ever blow all your money on an intense game of Pac-Man? Would you ever wear this skirt?

Wish List--Kingdom Hearts Organization XIII Jacket

Accept darkness and live in the light.
Oh, the convoluted gem that is Kingdom Hearts...

Overlooking the random side entries that seem to have taken over the canon, I still consider KH one of the best game series ever made. And though it sometimes seems like III will never come, the wait for the next main installment wouldn't be too long with this hoodie. Its brillance lies in the fact that it's so simple that it doesn't scream "cosplay" so you could wear it from day to day, but it's detailed enough for fans of the series to take notice.

You can find this and a few other similar jackets on Etsy.

Are you fan of Kingdom Hearts? Are you still excited for III or ready to move on?

Wish List--Running Low on Health? Get a Heart Container Meter Necklace

It's dangerous to go alone...
Haven't you always wanted a life meter to display your health status for all the world to see?

No? That's just me?...

Well, if you never dreamt of such things, you still can't deny the appeal of this wonderful piece of Zelda inspired jewelry. A necklace this awesome could (and should) be appreciated by anyone, even someone who has no idea what it's supposed to be.

The coolest thing about this necklace is that it's creator is willing to customize it for you so the hearts are as full or as empty as you want them to be. Great if you're feeling absolutely fantastic/excruciatingly crappy and you want everyone to know. And bonus: you never have to worry about an annoying warning sound or a companion getting on your nerves...

Find this on Etsy.

Wish List--Peach Saving Herself? Yeah, Sure...

Maybe YOU can save yourself because Peach sure can't.
The irony of this shirt should be lost on no one. Not one single person.

For years, Peach has been a desperate damsel, helpless against Bowser's crazy schemes. She never even lifts a finger when the big bad villain shows up. It's all "Help me, Mario!" followed by a bit of "Our princess is in another castle..." until you get enough stars/coins/power ups to unlock the final encounter.

That doesn't change the fact that this shirt is awesome.

And yes, I realize that Peach played the heroine in Super Princess Peach. That doesn't count. She doesn't save herself, she saves Mario. With her feelings. And a umbrella.

It's not a bad game though. It just doesn't count.

You can find this shirt in stock here. Interested?

Wish List -- Piranha Plant Earrings

Nowhere near as painful as the real thing.
I have seen these everywhere around the internet. I believe it was love at first sight, especially because these bring back so many fantastic memories. Super Mario 64 was the very first game I ever played and I think these earrings are a perfect way to show my love for one of the most iconic enemies in the series (even though they're incredibly annoying and I really can't stand them).

Find them on Etsy.

Wish List -- Song of Storms Tee

The Power of Precipitation
The Song of Storms is my absolute favorite song from the Legend of Zelda franchise. Not Zelda's Lullaby or the Song of Time, but that one weather changing tune that doesn't get enough love nowadays. Maybe that adds to its appeal. Or maybe it just wasn't that important...Either way, this shirt from Busted Tees just proves that everybody's favorite tunic-wearing hero was made it rain way before any rapper did. He's so hipster. (Can't believe I wrote that. Just throwing stuff in...)

I think I'm slowly growing out of my t-shirt and jeans phase, but I wouldn't miss the opportunity to wear this with a jacket or blazer. Because gamers can be classy too, you know. It's all about that "Gaming Sophistication".
